McAlisterville

 


MCALISTERVILLE - Founded 1810. Named for Hugh McAlister. McAlisterville was also home to the McAlisterville Academy, which first opened in 1855 and was run by George McFarland, who later served with the 151st Pennsylvania Regiment for the Union Army at the Battle of Gettysburg. After the Civil War, the McAlisterville Academy was also home to a soldiers' orphans school.
