EAGLES MERE - Founded 1804. Originally Lewis Lake, renamed from "Lake of the Eagles". Long an destination for Philadelphians looking to escape the summer heat, Eagles Mere is a summer resort town, swelling to about 3,000 seasonal residents from about 120 year round residents.
