Herline Covered Bridge

One of Bedford County's 15 covered bridges, the Herline Covered Bridge won't take you far off the beaten path.   Located just outside of Manns Choice and PA 31 on Watson Road, this Burr arch-truss bridge was built in 1902.  It is the longest covered bridge in Bedford County at 136 feet and crosses the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River.

The bridge has also been known as the Heirline or Kinton Covered Bridge.  The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.  The bridge was closed to traffic in 1983 but reopened after it was refurbished in 1997.  It appears that the state transferred ownership to Bedford County in 1994, but it has since returned to state maintenance.
